We were delighted to support Gateshead College's latest project, which involved constructing a strong steel frame structure to support 233 photovoltaic (PV) panels in the facility’s multi-story car park.
Gateshead College is a leading further education institution that provides high-quality education and training to students in the North East. With a strong emphasis on practical learning, the college works closely with businesses and employers to equip learner with the skills required in today’s workforce.
As a forward-thinking institution, Gateshead College prioritises sustainability in its operations and curriculum. Through its courses and training programs, the college provides students and businesses with the knowledge and skills they need to address climate change and promote sustainable practices.
This project is a testament to that commitment. To support the college’s ‘Green Gateshead’ initiative, these solar panels will generate clean, renewable energy to the campus, significantly reducing its reliance on non-renewable sources and lowering carbon emissions.

We collaborated with xsite architecture LLP, RWO Associates Ltd, Clark Degnan Consulting Engineers, and our subcontractor team, which included J&N Steelcraft UK Ltd, Phaze Scaffolding Ltd, and McVickers Limited, to bring this project to life.
This initiative further strengthens our commitment to working with local educational institutions, alongside recent projects such as our work with Wise Academies at Adderlane Academy and refurbishment projects at St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School.
