Company milestone: STP Construction turns 19

19th March 2021

2022 marks an impressive company milestone…

STP Construction was born on the 3rd March 2003 by founders John Smailes and Ian Cowling. As the only employees, the first project undertaken was a carpark in Fishburn, Country Durham, valued at only £27k.

Now celebrating it’s 19th anniversary, STP Construction has grown from strength to strength since it’s inauguration. With a focus on creating spaces that inspire and helping UK businesses reach new heights, we have quickly become one of the North East’s most respected Building and Civil Engineering contractors. With a first year turnover of £550k, we now have an anticipated turnover for 2022 that is in excess of £25 million.

We have worked on hundreds of commercial, industrial, retail, leisure and healthcare projects in our nineteen years in business, and along with the breadth and complexity of our projects, our departments have also expanded and we currently have 50 full time employees and many more subcontract and labour only personnel.

While we are based in the North East, we are currently working on major projects in Leeds City Centre, Preston and Birmingham and have undertaken works throughout the UK and have an ever-expanding customer base from a variety of sectors.

From renovation projects, alterations and extensions to new-builds and interior fitouts, there is no project that the STP team can’t handle.

We can’t wait to see what the next nineteen years will have in store for STP.
