North-East-based construction firm STP Construction is celebrating its 20th anniversary marking two decades of success in the industry.

Established in 2003, STP has grown to be one of the leading names in the North East construction industry. The firm has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of the region’s most well-known contractors in the building, fit-out, refurbishment and civils sectors.

With over 50 directly employed staff and operatives, the firm is continuing to grow, having expanded its senior management team with the addition of Andrew Kneeshaw, Dave Wild, Neil Balmer and Mike Smith, bringing further industry-leading knowledge to the already experienced team.

Ian Cowling, Managing Director of STP Construction, said, “We are delighted to be celebrating our 20th anniversary and the achievement that brings. We are fortunate enough to have built strong relationships in the industry over the years, enabling us to take on some inspiring projects and helping to shape the UK built-environment for decades to come”.

STP’s current projects include the restoration of Grade II listed gardens at Auckland Castle as part of a larger scheme, working alongside UK Land Estates to redevelop a site at Eighth Avenue on the Team Valley to create a hi-spec distribution unit, the refurbishment of the Park Hotel sites in Tynemouth and Ripon Spa Hotel for the Inn Collection Group and the refurbishment of retail units/offices in York.

With sustainable design high on the agenda for the firm, STP also joined forces with Bauder Flat Roofs to install a sustainable roof in the landmark development One Sovereign Quay in Leeds, and as part of the humidity-controlled art studio in Hexham are installing energy-saving ground-sourcing heat pumps.

Tony Day, STP’s Senior Contracts Manager, said: “With the challenges the sector is facing, we certainly don’t take our success for granted. We are proud of the business’s achievements over the last 20 years and fully intend to focus on the future, increasing turnover, investing in our people and embracing technological advances in the industry”.
