Haylofts
Newcastle, UKFrom stables to a stand-out business centre renovation
Situated on St Thomas Street, right next to the Haymarket Travel Interchange, sits the revamped office spaces known as Haylofts.
Owned and operated by HyHubs, a company committed to creating spaces that promote community, collaboration and co-working across the North East, this business centre renovation has an interesting history.
Originally built in 1840, Haylofts operated as stables for Newcastle Breweries. When we received the brief for this project, it was important that we respected the heritage housed within the space and as a result, original features have been retained such as the cobbled courtyard.
The result is quirky and innovative office spaces where local SMEs can collaborate.
This renovation project was valued at £1.5 million.

Before the project
In a past life, the Grade II listed building at St Thomas Street had functioned as drayhorse stables for Hoults Yard.
After
We created a bright, airy and inviting space for local SMEs to thrive. Including a central hub, breakout spaces, high spec meeting rooms and a glazed courtyard, this innovative space is prepped and ready to host innovative local businesses.
